Lineage Performing Arts Center Presents

Little Shop of Horrors

January 28, 30, 31
February 4, 6, 7

Lineage returns with Little Shop of Horrors—a quirky, heartfelt sci-fi musical about a timid florist’s assistant and the plant that changes everything. In true Lineage style, dance breathes new life into this beloved classic, adding a dynamic physical dimension to its storytelling.

Set in an impoverished urban neighborhood in the late 1950s/early 1960s, Little Shop of Horrors blends science fiction B-movie tropes with rock and roll, doo-wop, and classic musical theater conventions. Beneath its humor and charm lies a sharp satire of the American Dream, exploring how ambition, desperation, and the pursuit of success can lead to moral compromise.

The story follows meek florist Seymour, his kind-hearted coworker and love interest Audrey, her sadistic dentist boyfriend, and a mysterious, bloodthirsty plant—Audrey II—who offers fame and fortune at a deadly cost. A trio of streetwise urchins, joined by Lineage’s dancers, guide the narrative with rich three-part harmonies and expressive movement that deepen and expand the world of the show.

With a book and score by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken—legendary collaborators behind Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and AladdinLittle Shop of Horrors remains a testament to their enduring creative brilliance.
